A highly decorated and physically imposing technician hailing out of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Joseph “Joe” Hicks has long been recognized as one of the most fundamentally sound elite operators in the mid-weight classes. Long before launching his professional journey, Hicks constructed a stellar amateur legacy, capturing the 2019 National Golden Gloves Championship and winning the USA Boxing Eastern Elite Qualifier three separate times (2017, 2018, and 2019). His domestic dominance ultimately earned him a spot as a captain on the 2020 U.S. Olympic Qualification Team and a silver-medal finish at the highly competitive 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Hicks quickly racked up a string of dominant victories across Michigan, including a notable unanimous decision win over the dangerous veteran Antonio Todd on the undercard of a major Claressa Shields event at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena. Though he faced his lone career setback in a razor-thin, hard-fought battle against Wendy Toussaint for the vacant IBF USBA Super Welterweight Title at Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Hicks showcased true championship resolve by immediately returning to the win column. He re-established his elite contender status with a shutout victory over durable veteran Todd Manuel in front of his roaring home crowd at GLC Live at 20 Monroe, proving he remains a force to be reckoned with on the global stage.
